At BikeFlip, we work on bikes... and on the future

BikeFlip is more than a bicycle subscription. We are a social enterprise with a mission. In our workshop in Utrecht, discarded children's bicycles are given a second life, thanks to the craftsmanship of our team: people who discover their talents with us and re-engage with society.

3 workshops

In our workshops, it's all about reuse and development. We train new bicycle technicians in a practice-oriented learning environment where growth is key. This way, we combine technical skills with social and sustainable impact.

Behind every colleague is a story, and we take that seriously. In our workshop, you don't work anonymously; you work together. Here, people grow into their roles step by step, build skills, and discover what they're good at. This way, we create opportunities that lead to the prospect of permanent employment.

The bicycles

Every children's bike that leaves our workshop is thoroughly refurbished and ready for a second life. What was once discarded, we make reliable and safe again. In this way, we give value back to materials and ensure sustainable mobility for young cyclists.

What we stand for

We are an official Social Enterprise. This means that profit is not an end in itself for us, but a means to create impact.

Savings for tomorrow

50% of our profit goes directly into a special fund. With this, we create more jobs and save more bikes.

Fair & transparent

We pay fair wages (CAO) and our books are open. We fight against mobility poverty by making bicycles available to less fortunate families, because every child deserves a bike.
BikeFlip is fully owned by founders Paul and Casparis. Without external shareholders, we grow on our own strength, with fair collective bargaining agreement (CAO) and DGA (director and major shareholder) salaries.

Sustainable development goals

For us, sustainability goes beyond the environment alone. In everything we do, people, reuse, and equal opportunities are central. Through our activities, we actively contribute to multiple Sustainable Development Goals.

What have we achieved

3 workshops

You can find us in Utrecht, Amsterdam, and Rotterdam.

84 work-study programs

We train new talent and thus save even more bikes.

5,000 bikes saved per year

Every year, we give 5,000 bicycles a second life.

The story behind BikeFlip

BikeFlip started in 2019 at a Utrecht waste disposal site, where student Casparis Beyer saw a perfect, bright pink children's bike among the scrap metal. For him, this was proof of a broken system: why produce new when we have gold in our hands? He rescued the bike and laid the foundation for a circular subscription model. Soon, fellow student Paul Remie joined him to develop this ideal into a professional social enterprise.

Together, they share one conviction: entrepreneurship is about impact, not quick profits for shareholders. That's why BikeFlip is entirely self-owned, and every euro flows back into its mission. Casparis and Paul prove daily that economic value can be perfectly combined with social gain: by reducing waste and offering people in the workshop a new future.
