At BikeFlip, it’s about more than just sustainability for the planet; we’re also committed to the well-being of people. With our motto “People & Planet,” we strive to make a positive impact on both the environment and the communities around us. By working together with local municipalities and organizations like Stichting Leergeld, we make bicycles accessible to families who need them most and help reduce mobility poverty.
Our mission
Our mission in this is simple: to ensure that everyone, regardless of their financial situation, has access to a reliable and sustainable bicycle. We know how important a bicycle can be—it provides freedom, promotes health, and opens the door to education and employment.
Collaboration for success
We work together with local municipalities such as Utrecht and Amsterdam, and foundations such as 'Stichting Leergeld'. Thanks to these partnerships, we can reach families who could use a bike. Through these networks, families receive invitations to pick up a bike, so that lack of money does not hold them back.
Stichting Leergeld plays a major role in our efforts to help children. A bike can make a world of difference in a child’s life, and we want to make sure that every child can ride a bike and explore, regardless of their family’s financial situation.
New Initiatives for adults
In addition to our work with children, we have also started a new initiative in collaboration with the municipality of Utrecht. This project focuses on providing bicycles for adults who are integrating into Dutch society and need a reliable means of transport for their new job. By helping adults become mobile, we support their path to independence, integration and employment, and further reduce mobility poverty.
Expansion throughout the Netherlands
At the moment we operate in Utrecht, Amsterdam and recently also in Almere and Rotterdam, but our goal is to expand our initiative throughout the Netherlands. We want to create a nationwide network so that everyone can enjoy the joy and freedom that affordable and sustainable cycling offers.
The importance of donations

Support for people with a distance to the labor market
At BikeFlip we take our mission to help both people and the planet one step further. The people who work on restoring donated bikes are often people with a distance to the labor market. We help them learn a trade and support their (re)integration into society.
These employees follow a trajectory of a certain period in which they, together with a supervisor from an external agency, are guided to a permanent new job. In addition, we help them learn the language better and fit into society. By offering them this opportunity, we contribute to their personal and professional development, and we ensure that they can take a valuable place in society.
