A loose children's bike bell is not only annoying because it rattles, it's also unsafe if your child can't quickly signal their approach. Fortunately, straightening and tightening a bell is a job that takes less than a minute.

Secure your bike bell step-by-step
To secure your bike bell, you usually only need one thing:
-
A Phillips head screwdriver
Follow these steps to get the bell firmly back on the handlebars:
-
Find the screw: At the bottom or side of the bell (near the clamp around the handlebars) there is a small Phillips head screw.
-
Position the bell: Rotate the bell so that your child can easily reach it with their thumb without letting go of the handle. This is usually on the left side of the handlebars.
-
Tighten: Use an appropriate screwdriver to tighten the screw clockwise. Note: snug is tight. If you turn too hard, the plastic clamp of a cheap bell can snap.
-
Test the bell: Give a good ring to check that the bell no longer shifts.
Is the bike bell not ringing properly?
Sometimes the metal cover of the bell touches the brake lever or handlebars, which dampens the vibration. Make sure the bell cover always hangs freely and doesn't touch anything. A small turn is often enough to solve the problem.
